Potable water tanks
Exterior
- Sandblast to obtain a surface profile of 1 to 1.5 mils complying with the standard SSPC-SP6 (commercial blast)
- Apply two coats of anti-corrosion primer MC-4390 to obtain a minimal dry film thickness of 8 mils.
- Topcoat with Glass-Guard polyurethane 2800 Series to obtain a dry film thickness of 3 mils.
Interior
- Sandblast to obtain a surface profile of 1 to 1.5 mils complying with the standard SSPC-SP5 (white metal blast).
- Apply one coat of EP-Guard white epoxy primer 1553 to obtain a dry film thickness of 3 mils.
- Topcoat with EP-Guard grey epoxy primer 1552 to obtain a dry film thickness of 3 mils.
Chemical tanks
- Sandblast to obtain a surface profile of 1 to 1.5 mils complying with the standard SSPC-SP6 (commercial blast).
- Apply two coats of one component anti-corrosion primer MC-4390 to obtain a dry film thickness of 6 mils.
- Topcoat with Glass-Guard polyurethane 2800 Series for a dry film thickness of 2 mils.

Roofs
- Surface to be painted must be free of any contaminants such as grease, oil, wax and poorly adhered paint. If the floor is already painted, we recommend a blastrack in order to promote the best adhesion and therefore ensure excellent performance of Glass Shield products.
- Apply with a brush or roller two generous coats of two component EP-Guard 1500 Series allowing at least 8 hours between each coat (the first coat must be diluted 25% with thinner 162-11 and the second coat must be diluted 10%).
- For an additional super protection, topcoat with one component clear polyurethane MC4390 or MC 46704. The procedure for adequate application : 1- Apply a very thin mist and let it set for 30 minutes. 2- Then apply one medium wet coat.
Steel
- Sandblast to obtain a surface profile of 1 to 1.5 mils complying with the standard SSPC-SP6 (commercial blast).
- Apply one coat of epoxy primer MC4390 ou MC 46704 Series for a minimal dry film thickness of 3 mils.
- Topcoat with Glass-Guard polyurethane 2800 Series for a minimal dry film thickness of 3 mils.
